THE STRATEGIC EXPERIENCE: A Program for Management Development
Monday - Saturday, May 12-17, 2008
Sun Valley Lodge in Sun Valley, Idaho
TSE has a practical,
action-oriented approach to learning. Sessions are developed around discussion,
exercises, and the use of a business simulation. Since participants
bring a great reservoir of expertise, talent, and experience to the program,
they are encouraged to share their expertise with others through class
discussion and networking.
Who Should Attend?
The program is designed for the new or experienced manager who needs to
develop a broader-based understanding of the different business functions
and how they work together.
Past participants have held a variety of positions, such as:
• Functional Department Managers (Accounting, HR, Marketing, etc.)
• Engineering and other Technical Managers
• Production and Operations Managers
• Top Administrators and Leaders in Government and Non-Profits
Learning Competencies
TSE is designed to help you:
1. Understand the interdependence of the various organizational
functions. The days of "functional silos" are gone;
the effective organization has flexible people who can operate in interdisciplinary
teams and understand that the entire organizational system creates a competitive
organization.
2. Grasp the critical changes that affect the business environment
today. Change, flexibility, customer-focus, quality, and organizational
learning are among the key realities in today’s business environment.
3. Practice business decision-making. The business simulation
provides a unique opportunity to function as the "executive team"
of a simulated organization.
4. Examine your own management and leadership strategies.
In today's environment people make the difference. Through the Management/Leadership
Skills Assessment, you will learn more about yourself, how you interact
with others at work and develop a strategy for making your interpersonal
relationships more effective.
5. Network with other participants and faculty. One of
the richest aspects of the program is the chance to interact with other
business professionals from a variety of organizations to learn about
each other — and from each other.
