Speaker Bios James
Ball, Ed.D., VP Autism Services - YCS/Sawtelle (Montclair, NJ)
Dr. Ball is Co-Chair of the ASA Professional Advisory Board adn has direct
supervision responsibilities for over 200 students throughout 6 Sawtelle
learning center programs. His currrent consultant work includes school
districts in New York, Texas, Maryland, and Hawaii. Dr. Ball has
volunteered presentations for Princeton Autism Technology and the Doug
Flutie, Jr. Foundation and is popular amongst the education community.
Without marketing, this online presentation averaged 200 visits a month for
15 months, with many great comments. Multiple teachers from schools
around the country have requested this presentation on CD-ROM for their own
staff training.
Julie Fodor, Ph.D., University of Idaho
Dr. Fodor is the Director if the Center of Disabilities and Human
Development at the University of Idaho. She has worked with and for
people with disabilities and their families for over 25 years. Dr.
Fodor is the founder of the Positive Behavioral Supports Project in Idaho
and currently works with the State Department of Education serving over 80
children with challenging behaviors across the state of Idaho.
Robert Hendren, D.O., Executive Director
M.I.N.D. Institute
Dr. Hendren is a Professor of Psychiatry and Executive Director of the
M.I.N.D. Institute (Medical Investigation of Neurodevelopmental Disorders)
at the University of California, Davis. He is also President-Elect of
the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The MIND
Institute is a well known organization which focuses on autism research and
Dr. Hendren frequently addresses conference audiences about hopeful research
initiatives being pursued in multiple areas of interest.
Gregory Abowd, Professor of Ubiquitous
Computing, Georgia Tech
Mr. Abowd is an Associate Professor in the College of Computing and GVU
Center at the Georgia Institute of Technology and father of two children
with autism. His research is in the area of Human-Computer
interaction, with particular focus on the engineering and evaluation of
mobile and ubiquitous computing applications. He is Co-Director of the
Aware Home Research Initiative, which he founded at Georgia Tech in 2000.
This initiative now includes research into early childhood interventions and
education technologies for children with autism.
