HR Complaint Investigation Workshop
Federal and State Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws, such as Title
VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII), the Age Discrimination in
Employment Act (ADEA), and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA),
prohibit discrimination and harassment in employment based on an
individual's race, sex, color, national origin, religion, age (40+),
disability, and prior protected EEO activity.
Federal and State agencies may investigate EEO
allegations brought by employees under the laws, and concerned employees
also may file EEO lawsuits, if specific considerations are met.
Therefore, an employer will be best prepared to prevent, respond to, and
resolve employee EEO concerns if it has a clearly defined and applied EEO
policy and complaint investigation process.
This workshop provides an orientation to relevant
legislation, case law, guidelines, policies and forms for the effective
prevention, response and resolution of EEO Issues and gives examples of how
an employer can use an appropriate policy, investigation process, and
interview techniques to achieve the most positive outcomes.
