This course provides an overview of green building concepts including the
rating systems such as LEED and GreenGlobes, current case studies, the
economics of green building, benefits and barriers, and sources of
information.

implementation of sustainable building tools and strategies. It is

knowledge of green building or sustainable design, or anyone who
recognizes the emerging importance of sustainable design and its
impact on our daily life.

Pricing:
$1,200. Includes all materials. Group discounts are available for
3 or more participants registering from the same organization.
Instructors:
Ery Djunaedy, PhD, is a
Building Physics Specialist at the Integrated Design Lab in Boise. He
has degrees in Building Physics from the Institut Teknologi Bandung,
Indonesia, National University of Singapore, and Technische universiteit
Eindhoven, Netherlands. His main interest is in building performance
simulation, especially building energy and airflow. He joined the
Integrated Design Lab in Boise in 2006, and has since been involved in
various building design projects in the region.
Sherry McKibben is an Assistant Professor of
Architecture and Director of the University of Idaho’s Idaho Urban
Research and Design Center (IURDC) in Boise. Under her supervision
architecture students and faculty of the Center have worked on numerous
urban and community design projects with Treasure Valley communities.
Sherry is also an architect and urban designer with green architecture
and urban design firm McKibben + Cooper Architects. As founding member
of Sustainable Idaho, Executive Committee member of Urban Land Institute
Idaho, member of US Green Building Council Idaho and past President of
the American Institute of Architects Central Idaho, Sherry works to
promote sustainability in development and business practices. Sherry is
a graduate of the University of Oregon and has a Masters degree from
Yale University. She is US Green Building Council LEED certified.
Rebecca Mirsky is the Department Chair of the Construction
Management Department and an environmental engineer with over 20 years
of experience in the construction industry. Her professional interests
involve the environmental aspects of construction activities. She
specializes in high performance or green construction methods and
materials (commercial, industrial, and residential) reduction and
recycling of construction waste, erosion control and storm water
management, dust and noise control, and sustainable land use planning.
Rebecca is a registered professional engineer and a LEED Accredited
Professional
Kevin Van Den Wymelenberg is an Assistant
Professor at the University of Idaho and Director of the Integrated
Design Lab in Boise (IDL-Boise). He has degrees in architecture from the
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and University of Washington. He
teaches classes in daylighting and simulation techniques for integrated
design to graduate students and design professionals in Boise. As part
of the Pacific Northwest Integrated Design Lab Network, Kevin has
consulted on over 400 projects with architects regarding daylight and
energy in buildings since 2000.
Registration
Information
Fee and Cancellation Policy:
Fee arrangements for workshops are due on or before the first day of
class. Cancellations made up to one week before the class are
refundable. Refunds minus a $25 processing fee will be made for
cancellations made at least 48 hours prior to the first class.
After that the participant or organization is responsible for the fee
which you may apply toward a future class. Anyone who is
registered but cannot attend may send a substitute. Please call
426-3485 with the name of your substitute attendee.
