Basic 40 Mediation Certification

The 40-hour basic mediation workshop will include all topics essential for beginning mediators.  This course is approved by the Idaho Mediation Association to fulfill the basic mediation training requirement.  The course includes case examples and case practice in mediating organizational and employee disputes.  Course is intended for individuals preparing for State Certification, preparing to be an internal resource to your organization, or individuals desiring to enhance their skills as conflict managers and mediators.

Setting the agenda

Briefing on state laws applicable to mediators and mediator ethics

Getting the "soft" agreement
Moving from the "soft" agreement to writing the settlement agreement
Measurability, concreteness, and specificity

Presenter: Dr. Suzanne McCorkle, Director of the Dispute Resolution Program at Boise State University, presents the workshop.  Dr. McCorkle is an authorized administrator of the Intercultural Style Inventory Test and is the author of Mediation Theory and Practice.
