Project Management Workshops

Introduction to Project Management

This course introduces the fundamentals of project management through the use of examples and hands-on application of project management principles.  Participants will work on several case studies and relate best practices to their projects.

Topics will include:

Day 1

  • Introduction to Project Management

  • Defining Project Goals

  • People Issues

  • Planning a Project

  • Project Management Tools

Day 2

  • Project Resource Management

  • Project Tracking and Reporting

  • Project Conflict Resolution

  • Dealing with Project Scope Creep

  • Project Termination and Closeout

  • Managing Multiple Projects

Using Microsoft Project

Direct application of principles using Microsoft Project Management software is provided during this full day course.

Topics will include:

  • Getting familiar with the Project 2003 Screen

  • Using the Help Features

  • Starting a Project

  • Entering Tasks

  • Setting Task Milestones, Deadlines and Constraints

  • Linking and Unlinking Tasks

  • Creating and Assigning Resources

  • Working with Project Costs

  • Exploring Views

  • Examining Different Views

Expected Outcomes:

  • Understand the value of the project management approach

  • Learn and apply the basic tools of project management

  • Hands-on development in Microsoft Project Software

Fees: $625 per person for all 3 days, includes hassle free parking and all materials except Microsoft Project Software.  Introduction to Project Management is $450 per person on September 23 & 24 only.  Using Microsoft Project is $225 per person on September 25 only.

Groups: Group discounts are available for three or more participants registering from the same organization.
