Technical Writing: Getting Positive Results from
Proposals, Reports, and Instructions
This workshop will focus on key components of
technical writing. Topics Include:

Analyze
your readers and prepare documents to meet their needs

Improve
your technical writing style using tested techniques

plan
and organize your ideas and design documents to achieve desired outcomes

Understand the changing role of grammar in today's workplace
This
session will then examine the three types of documents with high impact
in the business world: proposals, reports, and instructions. You
will discover ways to improve your proposals, reports, and instructions
making them powerful means of persuasion and communication.

Presenter:
Janet Worthington, Ph.D.
Dr. Worthington has taught
technical writing for over twenty years. Janet established the
Technical Writing Program for the Community and Technical College of West
Virginia Institute of Technology and served as coordinator for five years.
She currently teaches the graduate technical writing course for the
Educational Technology Program at Boise State University. Dr.
Worthington has presented workshops on business and technical writing for
engineers and other professionals in manufacturing, government, and
non-profit organizations. Dr. Worthington received a Ph.D. from
Florida State University in English Education. Her publications
include technical articles and books on such varied topics as robotics,
surface mine blasting, and gas drilling research. In addition, Janet
has served as a reviewer for technical writing textbooks.
